RIAD to focus on rural areas

Vijayawada, Oct 14 (uni) T Purushottam Rao, Chairman, High Power Committee of 'Remote and Interior Areas Development(RIAD) today said in the present economic globalisation there was need to develop rural areas and arrest the migration of villagers.

Talking to newspersons here, he said to reduce the influence of the Left-wing extremist ideologies, the State Government had set-up RIAD.

Mr Rao said the RIAD had taken up steps for organisation, infrastructure, empoloyment and livelihood aspects. A four-prong strategy had been adopted to deal with socio-economic issues of naxal affected areas to resolve land issues and to create economic and social infrasructure, he added.

He said steps were taken for creating employment and livelihood opportunities to facilitate transparency in governance.
