Rain and snow in HP
Shimla, Oct 14 (UNI) Several high altitude areas of Kangra, Kullu and Lahaul-Spiti districts of Himachal Pradesh experienced fresh spell of mild snowfall, while rains lashed lower parts of the districts during the last 24 hrs, the met office said.
The 13,050-foot high Rohtang Pass, gateway to Lahaul-Spiti district, and Sapat Rishi mountain ranges in Lahaul Spiti had recorded six inches of snow each till 1600 hrs, while the Dhauladar Ranges experienced heavy snowfall last night, plummeting temperatures in the districts.
Snow clouds were hovering over the tribal district of Kinnuar but official sources said the entire district had not received rain or snow during the last 24 hrs.
However, the day and night temperatures in the state were registering a decline in the last few days with other high altitude areas experiencing snowfall.
Light to moderate intermittent rains lashed Dharamshala and the famous tourist resort of Manali in Kullu district since last night, the met sources said.
The Dhauladar mountain ranges wore a white thick blanket of snow this morning, besides the Bara Bangal area of the district.
Sky over Shimla and other adjoining areas was covered under a thick layer of clouds before it cleared out in the afternoon, even as the day and night temperatures continued to dip in the entire state.
The state capital recorded a day temperature of 19.6 degrees and a night temperature of 11.2 degrees, the met office said.
Sundernagar and Bhuntar recorded maximum temperatures of 27.3 and 18.5 degrees and minimum temperature of 15.1 and 12.5 degrees respectively, it added.
