President arrives on a two-day visit to Karnataka
Bangalore, Oct 14 (UNI) President A P J Abdul Kalam tonight arrived here on a two-day visit to Karnataka.
He was received at the airport by the Governor T N Chaturvedi, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and top state officials.
After a overnight stay at the Raj Bhavan, President will leave for B R Hills, in Chamarajanagar District, to inaugurate the silver jubilee celebration of Vivekananda Girijana Kalyana Kendra.
He would also inaugurate a rural resource centre and a nursing college, besides releasing a book 'Our Forest, Our Life'.
The President would felicitate C Made Gowda of Banglepodu, the first tribal to get a post graduate degree in social science. He would confer the Vivekananda Seva award on nurse Bhagya of Kanneri colony for efficient implementation of health programmes at Suliga campus.
Mr Kalam would inaugurate new building of the Adichunchinagiri Matt before arriving here for departure to New Delhi at 1630 hrs.
