BJP VP Naqvi to head Haj Air Charter panel

New Delhi, Oct 14: BJP Vice President and former Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has been elected unanimously as the Chairman of the Haj Air Charter Committee, the panel which is responsible for negotiating and fixing the airfare for about 1.5 lakh Indian Haj pilgrims to Saudi Arabia.

Other members of the committee are former Asom Chief Minister Syeda Anwara Taimur, Mr Ali Kutti Musliyar (Kerala), Mr Hasan Ahmed (Delhi), Mr Hafiz Naushad (UP), Mr Molvi Mohammad Moazzam Ahmed Nayab Imam Fatehpuri Masjid (Delhi) and Dr Shafiqur Rehman Barq (UP). Mr Naqvi and Mrs Taimur also happen to be sitting Rajya Sabha members.

The Haj Air Chater Committee also coordinates with the Ministry of Civil Aviation for smooth movement of passengers by Air India, Indian Airlines and Saudi Airlines from 15 embarkation points -- Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Kolkatta, Bangalore, Calicut, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Sringar, Nagpur, Aurangabad, Guwahati, Patna and Jaipur.
