Modi calls on builders to go for integrated townships

Ahmedabad, Oct 14 (UNI) Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today called upon the construction business leaders to for on integrated satellite townships and assured his government's cooperation for their development plans.

''The government should not just make rules but work in partnership with all concerned for overall development,'' he said, inaugurating a Real Estate exhibition, Gujarat Institute of Civil Engineers and Architects, here.

''We should work for development of integrated townships and not follow the Western model blindly. Modernisation without westernisation should be the mantra for the day,'' he said.

He also stressed that the government guidelines should be modified as the construction companies have to go through a lot of hurdles. He called upon them to go for earth quake proof buildings.

Stalls displaying home decor items, building construction materials and tiles have been put up for the exhibition, the 20th in series.

Builder Hafeez Contractor was honoured on the occasion.

Civil engineers, structural engineers, town planners, architects, and building material suppliers were present on the occasion in large numbers.
