Mah to introduce 50% subsidy for education of poor students
Pune, Oct 14 (UNI) Maharashtra Minister for Higher and Technical Education Dilip Walse-Patil today said the state government will soon implement the policy of extending 50 per cent subsidy for poor students wanting to pursue higher and technical education.
A policy decision has already been taken that students belonging to families with annual income of less than Rs one lakh will be given reimbursement of upto 50 per cent of their fees, for their studies in medical, management, and technical courses, the minister told reporters here.
When asked about the amount of expenditure the state government would incur on account of the subsidy, the minister said, ''We are still waiting for figures. It depends on the number of students pursuing the courses. However, it will take around three weeks to begin the process.'' UNI DWN WD KD VV1930
