Local Body election to change future of state politics : Joshi

Allahabad, Oct 14 (UNI) National President of the All India Mahila Congress Rita Bahuguna Joshi here today said the results of the coming Uttar Pradesh Local Body elections would decide the future of state politics.

Talking to newspersons, Dr Joshi said, ''The main contest is between the Congress and the Samajwadi Party as the BJP and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) are nowhere in the scene,'' she claimed.

The Former mayor of Allahabad said the SP led UP government has done nothing for the welfare of the people and condition of the Nagar Nigam as well as the Nagar Panchyats have worsened and are facing acute financial crisis.

Expressing concern over the 'dismal' law and order situation in UP, sha said land mafias are active and forcibly grabbing the lands of the poor farmers.

Disobeying the model code of conduct of election, UP chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav was distributing unemployment allowance and kanya vidyadhan to the unemployed youths as his only aim was to capture power, while morality and ethics were of no value to him, she alleged.
