Lalu flags off 'Heritage Steam Train' in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Oct 14 (UNI) Railway Minister Lalu Prasad today flagged off the 'heritage steam train- Ruby queen', which was used in the shooting of Hindi film 'Rang De Basanti' from the South Central Raiwlay (SCR) station.

The salient feature of the train is that the steam locomotive and the coaches are the first in the series of locomotives of post-war design and manufacture by Baldwin locomotive works, USA. It was unloaded at Mumbai in 1947.

The length of the locomotive is about 22 meters and it weighs 99.1 tonnes. It can hold 15 tonnes of coal and 25,000 litres of water in its tender.

SCR general manager D N Mathur, MPs Anjan Kumar Yadav, V Hanumantha Rao, Ajiz Pasha, Madhu and Vital Rao were also present kon the occassion.
