JCM decides to improve efficiency in government
New Delhi, Oct 14 (UNI) A meeting of the National Council, the apex body of the Joint Consultative Machinery (JCM) for the central government employees, today decided to make efforts to improve the efficiency in government sector and make it capable of delivering quick and efficient public service.
"There was consensus to make concerted effort through mutual discussions to bring in the highest level of efficiency in Government sector to transform it into a modern, professional and responsive machinery, which is capable of ensuring quick and efficient delivery of Public Service," official sources said here after the meeting, chaired by Cabinet Secretary B K Chaturvedi.
An important fora from the angle of labour relations, the council covers various matters affecting the interest of about three million government employees.
Senior Leaders of the Central Government Employees' Associations and Secretaries of various Ministries and Departments participated in the deliberations.
Various issues of importance to the Central Government Employees and their families were discussed with a view of finding amicable solutions and ensuring harmonious relationship, an official release said.
Mr Chaturvedi emphasised the need for Staff Organisations to work in harmony with the official side to enhance productivity and efficiency and to achieve the objective of good governance through citizen-centric policies and systems.
While stressing the need for further strengthening the JCM scheme, Mr Chaturvedi enumerated some important decisions taken in the recent past, as a result of deliberations in the Joint Consultative machinery such as the setting up of the Sixth Central Pay Commission, availing LTC (Leave Travel Concession) by private airlines.
