Implement EPF in the unorganised sector: CITU

Rajahmundry, Oct 14 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh CITU General Secretry S Veeraiah today demanded the government to implement Employees Provident Fund (EPF) in the unorganised sector in the state, as in West Bengal.

Addressing newspersons, Mr Veeraiah said there were one crore workers in the unorganised sector in the state, who lacked minimum wages and other facilities.

He alleged that Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy was not taking steps for its implementation and added that CITU state unit would collect 50 lakh signatures and submit it to Dr Reddy, on October 20.

He demanded among other things implementation of Minimum Wages Act and Roster System, and opening of closed industries, filling up of vacancies, strengthening of Labour Cell besides fund allocation for the development of backward areas.
