Illegal blood bank busted, pathologist held

Varanasi, Oct 14 (UNI) The Special Operation Group (SOG) of district police this evening busted an illegal blood bank in the Manduadih area in the city and arrested the pathologist running the centre.

Police said here acting on a tip off, a raid was conducted at a pathology centre, which was running a blood bank, despite its licence having expired on May 23 last.

The pathologist running the illegal blood bank, R K Singh was arrested from the spot, while two drug addict blood donors were detained for questioning, police added.

Two units of fresh blood were also seized.

On Thursday, the SOG had busted a blood-selling racket by conducting raids at two separate places in the city and held the kingpin of the racket and a pathologist alongwith with 30 units of unaccounted blood.
