Gao to attend IPU Assembly

Itanagar, Oct 14 (UNI) Lok Sabha MP from Arunachal Pradesh Tapir Gao would be one of the members of the Indian Parliamentary delegation, to attend the 115th Assembly of Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Geneva, Switzerland, from October 16 to 18.

Mr Gao left the national capital yesterday for London en-route Geneva with a team, led by Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chaterjee, official sources said here today.

The three-day IPU session is expected to discuss issues including cooperation between Parliaments and United Nations in promoting world peace, particularly from the perspective of the fight against terrorism other issues that are likely to be raised include energy security, role of Parliaments in overseeing the achievement of millennium development goals with regard to the problem of debt and eradication of poverty and corruption.
