Elderly woman charred to death in fire

Rajkot, Oct 14: A 56-year-old woman was charred to death in a fire that broke out in her house following gas leakage here last evening.

According to fire brigade sources, the fire was caused after the leaking cooking gas caught fire when a stove was lit in the kitchen.

The fire soon engulfed the entire first floor house in Jalaram Plot here.

Three fire fighters along with an ambulance rush to the site and extinguished the fire after battling for few hours.

The deceased Arunaben Dayabhai Patel was in the kitchen when the incident took place. However, her daughter escaped unhurt, sources said.

The fire destroyed furniture, washing machine, refrigerater and other goods in the house, sources said.

Police have registered a case of accidental death and further investigation is on.
