District Magistrate sent to jail

Patna, Oct 14 (UNI) A Special Vigilance court today remanded the District Magistrate of Madhepura, Hemchandra Jha to jail in an alleged corruption case.

The DM was arrested last night and Rs 1,90,200 was recovered from his possession, which he had colected from the officials of Madhepura district.

The court sent him jail till October 27.

Designated judge Ramnivas Prasad also sent three others- officer in-charge of Atri Police station, Gaya Lal Babu Prasad, head clerk NMCH Kameshwar Pandit and Ravi Shankar, partner of Messers Uma Shankar to jail in different corrpution cases.

Mr Prasad and Mr Pandit were caught red handed while receiving bribe yesterday whereas Ravi Shankar is an accused of forging NSC and KVP papers to procure loans from banks.

Earlier, the Vigilence produced all the arrested accused before the special court which awarded 14 days judicial custody to them.
