Delhi reports 892 dengue cases, national toll at 94

New Delhi, Oct 14 (UNI) The toll due to dengue outbreak rose to 94 as the number of cases reported from various parts of the country was put at 1,875 with Delhi accounting for the maximum of 892 cases.

As many as 481 cases were registered upto 1230 hrs today in the National Capital Region (NCR) and adjoining states, according to figures released by the Health and Family Welfare Ministry.

In the case of Chikungunya, there were 1,610 confirmed cases, the Ministry said. No deaths due to the disease had been reported from India as a whole including Delhi so far, the report noted.

Of the 481 dengue cases reported from the NCR region, 152 cases were from Haryana, 245 from Uttar Pradesh, 13 from Rajasthan and the rest 71 from others.

The situation report on dengue in other states (up to 1230 hrs today) was: apart from Delhi which reported the maximum number of dengue cases, followed by Kerala (794), Rajasthan (456), Gujarat (441), West Bengal (429), Uttar Pradesh (349), Tamil Nadu (307), Punjab (250), Maharashtra (240), Haryana (113), Karnataka (90) and Andhra Pradesh (33).

Altogether 24 Chikungunya cases have been reported from Delhi and the NCR region. Apart from Delhi, most of the confirmed Chikungunya cases have been reported from Maharashtra (679), followed by Karnataka (294), Andhra Pradesh (248), Gujarat (145), Tamil Nadu (111), Madhya Pradesh (62), Kerala (38) and Puducherry (9), the Ministry figures said.
