CRB to provide direct link between Puducherry and Mahe region

Puducherry, Oct 14 (UNI) The Central Railway Board(CRB) today agreed to provide direct rail link between Puducherry and Mahe region of the Union Territory.

In a release here, Lok Sabha member from Puducherry M Ramadass said that he had been taking initiatives for this for quite some time and two days back the board had agreed to link two compartments from Puducherry to the Chennai-Coimbatore train via Villuppuram, after extending it up to Mangalore.

The coaches will be attached to the Mangalore train which will arrive at Villippuram at 0005 hours, he added.

Prof Ramadass said the train will pass through Tiruchi, Coimbaote,Kozhikode, Mahe, Talaserry and reach Mangalore.

The facility would be introduced soon after the completion of the construction work of the railway track between Villuppuram and Salem, he added.
