A militant killed, 3 civilians injured in Kashmir

Srinagar, Oct 14 (UNI) A militant was killed and three persons were injured in the Kashmir valley today, official sources said.

They said troops and Jammu and Kashmir police launched a joint operation at Pulwama in south Kashmir today after receiving an information that militants were hiding there.

However, when the security forces started sealing exit points, militants opened fire and in the return fire a militant was killed.

One AK rifle and other arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militant.

They said militants attacked a security force patrol party with automatic weapons and grenades at Nadihal, Bandipora, in north Kashmir district of Baramulla. Security forces also retaliated and in the exchange of fire three civilians identified as Abdul Aziz, Showkat Ahmad and Bilal Ahmad were injured. The injured were hospitalised.

Sources said security forces later conducted searchs in the area.

However, the militants had managed to escape.
