989 villages and hamlets to be connected by road in J and K

Srinagar, Oct 14 (UNI) Under Bharat Nirman Programme all villages without road facilities in Jammu and Kashmir would be connected by road by the end of 2009, an official spokesman said.

He said the Road and Buildings department have identified 989 villages and hamlets in the state for construction of roads.

Spokesman said that minister for Works Gulchain Singh was announced that Chadoora-Chara-I-Sharief road would be upgraded and work on this road would start soon at a cost of Rs 2.34 crore.

He also inspected Haj House Bemina and Bemina bridge which are under construction at a cost of Rs 13.33 crore and Rs 10.03 lakh respectively.

The minister was informed that the bridge in the area would be completed by the end of 2007 and so far Rs 5.18 crore have been spent on the project.
