10 pilgrims killed in accident

Barabanki (UP), Oct 14: At least 10 pilgrims were killed and six others sustained injuries when a tempo in which they were travelling collided with a truck near Sumaiya crossing this morning.

Police sources here said the accident occurred when the pilgrims were returning to Barabanki after visiting Devasharif mela.

Nine people, including three women and a child, died on the spot while another succumbed to his injuries at the district hospital.

Three of the critical injured have been shifted to Lucknow.

The sources said the truck driver was arrested soon after the accident.
