Union Labour Minister faces protest from child labourers
Berhampur, Oct 13 (UNI) Child labourers today staged dharna in front of the residence of Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment Chandra Sekhar Sahu to protest against enforcement of the law banning child labour.
The Union Minister was not present in his own home constituency here when about sixty child labourers, carrying placards and shouting slogans, sat in front of his house.
The child labourers, who came in groups voluntarily to stage dharna, demanded rehabilitation of the child labourers first before implementation of the law.
Carrying placards like ''Feed us, we are hungry,'' they also raised slogans against the Union Labour Minister. Though the dharna of the child labourers was a non-political affairs it attracted the onlookers.
The child labourers withdrew the dharna when some Congress councilors of Berhampur Municipality reached the spot and dispersed them from the house of Mr Sahu.
