Two LeT militants, soldier killed in Kashmir

Srinagar, Oct 13 (UNI) Two militants of Pakistan-based Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) and a security personnel were killed and a soldier injured in a 24-hour-long fierce gun battle in south Kashmir, official sources said today.

They said security forces on specific information, conducted search operation in a village near Shopian in south Kashmir district of Pulwama early yesterday.

However when the security forces were sealing the village, militants attacked them with automatic weapons.

Security forces also returned the fire and the militants entered a house.

Sources said reinforcement was rushed to the area from near-by camps and militants were repeatedly asked to surrender.

The operation continued till this morning in which two Lashker militants were killed. A soldier laid down his life and another was wounded. 2 AK rifles and other arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants.
