School children will undergo medical check up

Hubli, Oct 13 (UNI) Over 67 lakh schools children will undergo medical check up for general health as well as treatment, according to state education minister Basavaraj Horatti.

Speaking at a function here yesterday, he said the programme would be implemented this year and the students studying fro standard One to Seven would be provided with health cards.

Mr Horatti said free health check up would be made at any nursing home or hospital of the area, where the student resided. Expenses on heart and cancer operations would be borne by the government.

The programme would be implemented on the lines of Pulse Polio, the minister said adding that the syllabus for teaching "English" as a subject in Kannada medium schools was ready, he added.
