Rupee closes at Rs 45.44/45/USD

Mumbai, Oct 13: Rupee today touched a 56-week high and closed at Rs 45.44/45 per USD compared to the previous close of Rs 45.61/62 per USD as FIIs heavily sold dollars in the market, a money market trader said today.

Earlier, the Rupee opened low at Rs 45.51/53 per USD and in the mid morning, traded low at Rs 45.50/51 per USD.

The six-month forward premia was fixed low at 1.50 per cent and the one-year premia was at 1.48 per cent.

The Reseve Bank of India today fixed the Reference Rate at Rs 45.49 compared to the previous rate of Rs 45.60 per US Dollar.

The performance of Rupee against other currencies has improved phenomenally. Against the Euro, Rupee closed at Rs 56.98 (57.15), while against the Pound Sterling, it closed at Rs 84.45 (84.60 ), and against the Yen, it was up at Rs 38.00 (38.14).
