PM to inaugurate conf on rural dev prog implementation
New Delhi, Oct 13: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will inaugurate the National Conference of Project Directors of District Rural Development Agencies (DRDA) and Chief Executive Officers of Zila Parishads here on October 16 to improve the quality of implementation of rural development programmes in the country.
The two-day Conference, being organised by the Rural Development Ministry, is to facilitate an interaction between the planners, policy makers and implementers to boost economic growth and improve the quality of life in rural areas, specially targeting those living below the poverty line.
The interaction is also aimed to help in knowing the ground realities and making delivery systems more effective. The Conference will also provide a platform to Project Directors to share their success stories and discuss the bottlenecks in implementation of various programmes of the Ministry of Rural Development.
These programmes are run with the objective of employment generation, rural infrastructure development, food security, shelter and habitat development, drinking water supply, improved sanitation, area development and others.
Minister for Rural Development Raghuvansh Prasad Singh and Minister of State for Rural Development Suryakanta Patil are also participating in the conference.
