Modi hails HC observation on Banerjee Committee
Ahmedabad, Oct 13 (UNI) Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has welcomed the Gujarat High Court's observation that the U C Banerjee Committee, set up by the Railway Ministry, was ''unconstitutional, illegal and void''.
Mr Modi, in a statement here, said the court's verdict has exposed the conspiracy of the Congress-led UPA Government to save the real culprits responsible for setting afire two coaches of the Sabarmati Express in which 58 ''karsevaks'' returning from Ayodhya on February 27, 2002, were killed.
Mr Modi has sought an apology from the Central Government on the floor of the Parliament. He demanded those behind this ''conspiracy'' be sacked.
The Chief Minister said the verdict has strengthened the people's confidence in the judicial system.
