Impersonation costs Swamy his vote

Chennai, Oct 13 (UNI) Janata Party President Subramanian Swamy could not exercise his franchise in the local body elections as his vote was cast by somebody else, party's state unit President V S Chandralekha said.

In a statement here, she said Dr Swamy had his vote at polling station number 2281, in 146th ward, but a check with the polling officers, revealed that his vote was already cast by somebody else and blamed the officials for allowing impersonation.

Ms Chandralekha said that when she went to exercise her franchise in 150th ward, the officials checked her voter identity card, before allowing her to vote, she said and wondered why such a procedure was not followed in the case of Dr Swamy.

She charged the ruling DMK with committing murder of democracy by resorting to violence and bogus voting with the help of police personnel.
