IG concerned over high accident fatalities

Puducherry, Oct 13 (UNI) Puducherry Inspector General of Police Kishan Kumar today expressed concern over the high number of fatal accident cases in the union territory.

Speaking at a function to distribute helmets to the police personnel here today, Mr Kumar said many lives could be saved by using helmets.

The police should use helmets first to set an example to others, he said.

School children and NSS volunteers would be involved in creating awareness on road safety, he said and stressed on the need to inculcate discipline among road users.

The IGP also said the police would fix CCTV cameras at different places to monitor traffic.
