Coach has to deliver: Gill
New Delhi, Oct 13 (UNI) Indian Hockey Federation (IHF) chief K P S Gill today reiterated that the national coach will have to produce results to stay on with the job.
''The coach who can not deliver will have to go,'' Mr Gill told mediapersons here this afternnon.
''Everything would depend on how we fare in the Asian Games. Once it's over, we'll sit and discuss it with all,'' Mr Gill added.
He admitted that the team, which finished 11th, didn't do well in the recent World Cup but felt the problem has been diagnosed.
''I think the coach hit the nail on its head when he said that we have to work out on our technique while playing long tournaments.
We, however, did well in shorter tournaments,'' he explained.
The Indian probables for Doha Asian Games are currently undergoing training-cum-trial camp at Rourkela.
To a question Mr Gill said one of the finds of the last PHL was striker Shivendra Singh, who was India's leading goal getter in the recently concluded World Cup.
The 22-year-old Gwalior born Western Railway winger netted four goals at Monchengladbach. Another PHL find was 18-year old V Ragunath from Bangalore, who was a last minute replacement for drag flicker Sandeep Singh and showed consistency.
