Ujjain: Chargesheet filed against ABVP leaders

Ujjain, Oct 13: The prosecution today filed chargesheets against 6 ABVP leaders arrested on the charge of murdering Prof H S Sabharwal during students union election at Madhav College here on August 26.

All six accused, including state ABVP President Shashi Ranjan Singh Akela and Organising Secretary Vimal Tomar, were produced before Additional Sessions Judge R S Madia, who fixed next hearing on October 16. They were on judicial remand and charged under sections 302 and 147 IPC.

Sources in CID, which is investigating into the case of students violence in which Prof Sabharwal was killed, said a supplementary chargesheet would be filed soon as investigation was still going on.

The 233-page chargesheet contains statements of 94 witnesses.

Six video cassettes recovered from media personnel and criminal records of four accused were also enclosed along with the chargesheet, the prosecution said.

As many as 12 other ABVP workers were arrested for rioting and blackening the face of another professor M L Nath. Many NSUI and Congress workers were also held on the charge of rioting.
