20 railway stations to be upgraded: Lalu

Ongole, Andhra Pradesh, Oct 13 (UNI) Union Minister for Railways Lalu Prasad today announced that 20 railway stations would be upgraded to world class level, in next two years.

Speaking at a public meeting after inaugurating a new railway building at Chirala in Prakasham district, Mr Lalu said the railways would provide all facilities in the stations including setting up of farmers outlets to promote agricultural products in the country.

The railways would provide containers to export agricultural products to Europe, through ports, he said.

Stating that the Ministry was giving priority to cleanliness, safety and security of passengers, he said four Garibiradhs were already operational and the fifth 'Garibiradh AC Express' would be introduced between Hyderabad and New Delhi, at the earliest. Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development D Purandhareswari Devi, state Finance Minister K Rosaiah and South Central Railway Managing Director D N Mathur were also present.
