UKD stages walkout, protests delimitation hearings at Pauri.
Dehra Dun, Oct 12 (UNI) The Uttarakhand Kranti Dal today staged a walkout from the Uttaranchal Assembly when their demand to have discussion on delimitation and domicile issue, was turned down by the Speaker.
The Uttarakhand Kranti Dal members started demanding discussions on the issues the moment the speaker entered the house, following which the Speaker had to adjourn the House four times resulting in the loss of question hour and Zero hour. When the House reassembled in the afternoon, members of the UKD trooped into the well and continued their demand. The Speaker, however, carried on the House proceedings amid the chaos. Later the UKD legislators staged a walkout.
Meanwhile, protesting against the proposed delimitation draft, on the call of Uttarakhand Kranti Dal, the Pauri district today observed bandh. According to the District Collector Office sources, scores of UKD workers gathered at the District Collectorate and demonstrated against the Delimitation Commission, who was there for the hearings. Few workers even tried to disrupt the hearing.
However, the Chairman of the Commission N Goplalaswami carried out the hearings amid the chaos. UKD leader Kashi Singh Airy said the party would register its protest in Dehradun hearings too which is scheduled to be held tomorrow (Oct 13). BJP MP from Tehri Manvendra Singh, who is also the member of Delimitation Commission has announced boycotting the Dehradun hearings. He said the delimitation on area basis would reduce six parliamentary constituency seats from existing nine in Tehri.
