Two girls escape abduction bid

Madikeri, Karnataka, Oct 12 (UNI) Two girls escaped from the clutches of their kidnappers, who attempted to molest them, and were admitted to a hospital.

Police said driver Vasu and Chandra offered to drop the girls -- Lakshmi and Latha -- at home in their van at Kutta while the girls were returning home after watching a movie yesterday.

However, Vasu and Chandra drove to a remote place and attempted to molest the girls. In a bid to escape, the girls jumped out of the moving vehicle. While Latha sustained serious injuries, Lakshmi escaped with minor injuries. The two were admitted to a hospital.

Kutta police arrested the duo, who were later remanded to judicial custody.
