Surya Airlines to operate soon in NE

Agartala, Oct 12 (UNI) The Civil Aviation ministry has given No Objection Certificate to Surya Airlines to introduce its services in the North Eastern (NE) region.

The airline is interested in introducing its 19-seater small aircraft services on the Agartala-Kailashahar-Silchar route and is expected to start either by the year-and or beginning of 2007.

Universal Empire Group airline also wants to introduce its services on the Kailashahar-Kamalpur route in the state's North and Dhalai districts where construction of boundary walls is nearing completion, sources said.

Besides, it is keen to introduce its short route flight from Agartala to Silchar.

After renovating the runway at Kailashahar and Kamalpur the flights would start their operation, the sources added.

Earlier, the state government and other private organisations had demanded to the Centre to resume the air services on Kailashahar and Kamalpur routes.

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar had also met Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel and requested him to resume flight operations on these routes.
