Simi Mehra Guffin wins title

New Delhi, Oct 12 (UNI) Simi Mehra Guffin shot 74 in the last round and with a total tally of 224 clinched the first leg of the DLF Women's Professional Golf Tour here today.

The long hitter Shalini Malik turned in a total of 245 to wrest the second position while Nonita Lall Qureshi, the teaching pro from DGC, had to settle for the third position with an overall score of 249.

Nonita and Simi clashed again after a gap of almost 12 years having last played against each other in 1994 at the Ladies All India.

Nonita was not in the best of physical condition and a series of double bogies proved fatal to push her down to the third overall position while Simi partly recovered from five bogeys with two birdies and finished with a best overall score to take home the cheque.

Strong winds made the holes longer and the pros had difficulty in staying in the fairways. The greens added to the woes as the players 2-3 putted on the majority.
