Sharmila Tagore to launch Gurukul Jyoti Awards

New Delhi, Oct 12 (UNI) Noted film actress and Censor Board Chairperson Sharmila Tagore will launch the the first-ever Gurukul Jyoti Award for Excellence in Education at a function here on November one.

Educational institutions and coaching institutes all over the country are eligible to compete for this award, which will be a celebration of key contributions in the field of education.

The awards, which will be presented at a function here in last week of February, have been set up by DForce Communications, a leading event management company of the country.

Mr Deepak Jetha, Chairman, DForce Communications, said, "Come February, all attention is going to be revitedon Gurukul Jyoti Award. After all, this is the first time ever that awards of this scale and magnitude will be given away to celebrate key contributions in the field of education.'' Mr Jetha said the Gurukul Jyoti Award, an annual event, would be be characterised by its national stature and all-pervasive natute.

Nearly 400 institutions and coaching institutes, comprising institutes of Management and Engineering, Medicine, Arts, Science and Commerce colleges, are eligible to participate.

Even institutions in remote and interior regions, down to block level, will be able to compete aqs per carefully laid down criteria so asto ensure a level playing field to all the participants.

''The key feature of these awards, apart from their national stature, is that these will be open for almost all places of learning, barring schools,'' he said.

For instance, for the first time, coaching institutes would also be able to compete, thereby extending the scope and relevance of these awards, he added.
