SBI donates to NGOs
Kolkata, Oct 12 (UNI) State Bank of India (SBI) today donated Rs 21.38 lakhs to NGOs engaged in social services of different types.
"We are a responsible corporate citizen and always come forward to fulfill the commitment to the society," SBI deputy Managing Director Uday Shankar Roy said here while handing over cheques to the NGOs.
The cheques were handed over to Bharat Sevashram Sangha, Beldanga, Ved Vignan Mahavidya Peeth, Mall Road Janabikash, Saroj Nalini Dutt Memorial Association, Usthi Foundation India and Jagadish Bose National Science Talent Search.
The NGOs said the funds would be utilised to acquire mobile medical vans, ambulances, X-ray ECG machines, repair and renovation of old age homes for the deprived sections of the society and scholarship for meritorious students of engineering and medical stream.
This year as on date, SBI has donated Rs 46.5 lakhs to nine different organisations, Mr Roy said.
