RBI board reviews economic developments

Raipur, Oct 12 (UNI) The Board of Directors of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) met here today to review key economic, monetary and financial developments.

The one-day meeting held for the first time in Chhattisgarh was presided over by RBI Governor Dr Y V Reddy.

Deputy Governors Dr Rakesh Mohan and Mrs Usha Thorat, besides board directors Mr Y H Melegam, Prof U R Rao, Mr Lakshmi Chand, Mr H P Raina, Mrs Shashi Rekha Rajagopalan and Dr Jayavarthanavelu attended the meeting, RBI spokesman said.

Other board members Prof Suresh Tendulkar, Mr D S Brar, Dr Ashok S Ganguly, Mr Azim Premji, Mr Kumaramangalam Birla, Mr Suresh Neotia, Dr A Vidyanathan, Prof M M Sharma and Mr Ashok Kumar Jha could not attend the meet, the spokesman said.

Meetings of the RBI central board are held every year in Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai and Kolkata, besides at three other state centres by rotation.
