Puducherry gets Central aid to tackle Dengue, Chickungunya

Puducherry, Oct 12 (UNI) The Centre has sanctioned Rs 1.25 crore to the administration as immediate assistance to tackle Chickungunya and Dengue in the union territory.

An official release here today from Health Minister E Valsaraj said the funds are to be used for emergency medical treatment, provision of information and creation of awareness on the disease, purchase of fogging and spraying machines and also mosquito nets.

Mr Valsaraj, who participated in the meeting of health ministers of Chickungunya-affected states, had urged the Centre to sanction an immediate assistance of Rs one crore to tackle the situation here.
