Philippines to prepare road map for promoting ethanol
Hyderabad, Oct 12 (UNI) Impressed with International Crop Research Institute for Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) enabling a project through its Agri-Business Incubator to produce ethanol from sweet sorghum stalk, the Philippines has directed preparation of a road map and feasibility plan for promoting ethanol as biofuel in that country.
An ICRISAT release here said two Filipino delegations visited the institute to study the Indian model and replicate it in the Philippines.
The first team was led by Bendicto V Yuguico, special envoy of the Philippines President for Trade Relations and the second was jointly led by Nicomedes P Bezer, Director of the Bureau of Agricultural Research and Roberto F Ranola, Vice-Chancellor of the Philippines University.
A project had also been initiated in Uganda by a private company J N Agritech International Limited in collaboration with Rusin distillery, with support of the ABI, a rpt a technology commercialisation arm of ICRISAT, the release added.
