Nikkei opens slightly weaker after Dow retreat

TOKYO, Oct 12 (Reuters) The Nikkei average fell 0.30 percent early on Thursday as brokerage shares such as Nomura Holdings Inc.

extended declines amid concerns about the U.S. economy and stock market after a retreat in the Dow.

The Nikkei was down 48.84 points at 16,351.73 as of 0006 GMT after falling 0.47 percent on Wednesday. The broad TOPIX index was down 0.22 percent at 1,618.46.
