New local web search engine 'Guruji.com' launched
Bangalore, Oct 12 (UNI) Guruji.com, backed by Sequoia Capital India, today launched a new local search engine aimed at the Indian web consumer to provide a better search results by leveraging propriety algorithms and data in the Indian context.
Cofounder and CEO of Gururji.com, Anurag Dod, told newspersons here today that this was the first Indian company in the Indian internet search space. Sequoia Capital was investing in several leading internet business including Google, Yahoo, Paypal and Youtube search engines, he said.
The company had assembled a farm of service index, the entire universe of India websites and was using propriety algorithms to go deep into the Indian internet domain that could fetch locally relevant results to search queries of Indian consumers, he added.
According to a study, there were about 65 million people who use search engines in India and the current size of market for search engine advertising was 50 million dollars.
