Life convicts attempt suicide

Puducherry, Oct 12 (UNI) Three life convicts at the Central Prison here allegedly attempted to commit suicide today.

According to police, H Sivanesan (28), R Narayanan(27) and A John Pappies had applied for parole to celebrate Diwali along with their family members. However, the request was rejected.

Disappointed, they consumed water mixed with 'Shikakai' powder.

They were admitted to the government general hospital here.

Another undertrial, Gnanaoli, consumed bleaching powder last night and was undergoing treatment at the same hospital.
