Kumaraswamy yet to decide on nature of inquiry, compensation

Mangalore, Oct 12 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today said he would take a quick decision on the nature of inquiry to be ordered into the recent communal violence in Mangalore city and its outskirts and the quantum of compensation to be awarded to the victims.

Talking to mediapersons after holding a meeting with leaders of various communities here, he said he had collected all information about the violence from the district administration and discussed it with the community leaders.

Asked whether a judicial or Corps of Detective (CoD) inquiry would be ordered into the incident, the Chief Minister replied, ''At this stage, I will not say anything. I have collected all information. I will discuss with both the Deputy Chief Minister and the Home Minister and after taking decision on both the nature of inquiry and the compensation, I will make the announcement in Bangalore.'' Mr Kumaraswamy, who came here by a special flight last night along with Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, immediately rushed to various hospitals in the city to enquire about the health of the injured and visited the house of one of the deceased.
