Killer cop remanded to police custody

Bharatpur, Oct 12 (UNI) A court in Deeg today remanded police constable Chandrakant Diskhit, who shot his colleague, a temple priest and his wife, to police sustody.

Dikshit was produced in the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate today, who sent him to police custody.

Yesterday morning, Dikshit, posted at Kuchli police outpost along with two other constables, gunned down his colleague Kunwarpal using his rifle. Then he entered a nearby temple and shot dead temple priest Govardhan Nath (60) and his wife Sharda (55), who died on the spot.

Constable Dikshit also fired at the SHO of Deeg police station Narendra Sharma and his team who reached the spot on getting information. However they escaped unhurt.Later the police managed to arrest Dikshit. The provocation for firing is not yet known.
