Inquiry ordered after massive protest in student suicide case
Jammu, Oct 12 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir government has ordered a probe into the student's suicide case, in which a ninth grade student committed suicide in the Gandhi Nagar locality, allegedly after being beaten by the school principal.
Jatinder Singh, student of Harwinder Higher Secondary Public School, Gandhi Nagar, hanged himself from a ceiling fan at his home after returning from the school yesterday.
Education Minister Peerzada Mohammad said an inquiry has been ordered. Director of school Education (Jammu) D K Vaid will conduct an inquiry into the incident after MLA Raman Bhalla brought the matter to his notice.
The brother of the deceased, who studies in the same School, has also been allegedly beaten severely by the Principal. He has been admitted in a Hospital and his condition is being closely monitored by the doctors.
Later, family members and neighbours of the deceased held a massive demonstration on the National Highway near the Convent School by keeping the body of Jatinder in the middle of the road.
The demonstrations came to an end when a case under Section 306 RPC (abetment to suicide) was registered against the Principal.
