Indo-US joint defence operation in Belgaum from Oct 25

Belgaum, Karnataka, Oct 12 (UNI) Indo-US joint defence operation 'Shatrujeet' will commence at the Marathi Light Infantry Regiment (MLIR) in Belgaum from October 25.

According to an official release here today, the operation would be setting in urban, semi-urban insurgency environment with a view to enhance inter-operatability of both armies at functional level.

The exercise would focus on evolution of joint drills and refining field craft, battle craft, drills and procedures in counter terrorist operation.

Approximately, 160 personnel of E Company of 2/4 Marine regiment of the United States Marine Crops and Battalion Headquarters and Rifle Coy of 21 Punjab would participate in the joint operation.

The operation would comprise training to counter terrorism (techniques, tactics and procedures at company level), confidence training, survival training, combat shooting, rock climbing, navigation, unarmed combat, room shooting, communication procedure, suicide terrorism and human bomb philosophy, human rights in counter terrorism operation, quick reaction and team action, the release said.
