Idea launches cellular service in Rajasthan

Jaipur, Oct 12 (UNI) Idea Cellular today launched its operation in Rajasthan with the promise of investing Rs 1,000 crore in the next few years to make it the most preferred cellular brand in in the state.

While talking to newsmen idea Cellular CEO Vikram Mehmi said, Idea's state of the art congestion free network services will cover the entire state in two phases.'' He said in the first phase Idea would cover 145 towns including Jaipur, Kota, Udaipur, Ajmer, Alwar, Ganganagar, Bhilwara, and major highways like Delhi-Jaipur, Jaipur-Ajmer and Ajmer-Udaipur.

In the second phase seventy more towns and villages with major highways and corridors would be brought under the coverage of the celleular network.

He said, ''Idea plans to invest Rs 400 crore in the state by the year-end and Rs 1000 crore in the next two years.'' With India mobile penetration at 11 percent the compnay plans to capture about 10 percent of the mobile market share in the next three years.
