HC puts onus on UP govt regarding information on dengue

Lucknow, Oct 12 (UNI) The Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court today put the onus on the Uttar Pradesh government for disseminating information in public regarding the treatment available for dengue.

Hearing a PIL filed by local lawyers Brijesh Shukla and Sunita Singhal, the court observed it was the responsibility of the state government to inform the people about places, where effective dengue treatment was available.

A division bench comprising Justices Bhanwar Singh and J M Paliwal further directed the state government to publish such ads in newspapers telling the people, where such medical facilities were available.

The state government has also been asked to apprise the court, on the next date of hearing on October 19, as to what steps had been taken to contain the spread of dengue.

The government informed that a three-tier committee had been formed in this regard comprising principal secretary (medical and health) at the state level, commissioners at the division level and chief medical officers at the district level.

Senior medical and health officials appeared before the court today in persuance of the October 10 HC order in the case.
