Counterfeit currency note racket unearthed
Sirsi, Karnataka, Oct 12 (UNI) The Uttara Kannada police have unearthed an inter-state racket with the arrest of five people at Karwar recently and seizure of counterfeit notes valued at Rs 51,659.
Uttara Kannada Superintendent of Police S Ravi said the confiscated fake notes were in the denominations of Rs 100 and Rs 50. Besides, four mobile phones and a bundle of blank papers have also been seized from them.
He said the accused were identified as B K Mohiddin (67) from Cannanore in Kerala, Abdul Kader alias Babu (51) of Chintamani, Mahajar Sharif (56) of Bangalore, Gunashekhar Singaravelu Nayar (49) of Chittor in Andhra Pradesh and Mukappa alias Mukya (48) from Hanagal of Haveri district.
The police team which unearthed the racket have been awarded Rs 10,000 cash prize.
