CM misleading people, says Dhumal

Mandi, Oct 12 (UNI) Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister P K Dhumal today criticised Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh for his remarks that all developments in the state had been achieved during the successive state Congress Governments.

Various development projects in the state began after former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee took over power at the Centre, he said.

Mr Dhumal said the former prime minister had laid the foundation stone on the 800 MW Kol Dam Hydel Project on June five, 2000 on which the work began immediately, besides launching several hydel projects of 8026 MW capacity.

He also inaugurated the 800 MW Stage II Parbati Hydro Electricity Project on December 12, 2000, he said, adding that history was created when 86 MW Malana Hydel Project was conceived and completed in a record period of less than three years.

The former chief minister accused the Virbahdra Singh government of delaying the 126 MW Larji Project whose construction cost had escalated twice its original costs.

The BJP Governments had started works on hydel projects way back in 1962 and the Congress was claiming credit for it after sitting ideal for 36 long years, he added.
